Come meet Walter Kulash, a North Carolina native and one of the innovators of the smart and livable transportation movement, including the field of traffic calming (changing motorist behavior through street redesiugn). He will lead a walking tour of the downtown area, offering his observations on what we have done to enhance mobility in town (use of “sharrows” to encourage sharing the road, bike lanes, flashing beacons, etc.) and point out areas for improvement (increase the number of bus stops, create shelters at our bus stops, etc.) Walter worked with the town in 2003 on the Connectivity Plan and Traffic Calming Plan, and will let us know how we have been doing since then to create and maintain a walkable community. This is a great way for members of our community to ask questions, share observations, and interact with one of the nation’s leading experts in transportation.
Date: Thursday, February 8
Time: 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.
Location: Start and end on the front steps of Davidson Town Hall
