Endless Rail Money, Crystal Ball Approvals, and Smiling on Candid Camera

A few odd tidbits on the region's rail projects this Monday showing that all is well in transit planning land...

Charlotte's Blue Line Extension comes in at a meager $1.16 billion.  That's under the earlier cost of $1.19 billion, but the line is now shorter and doesn't reach I485 making it all but unusable for many commuters.  But it costs less...that's the important part.  Oh, and Charlotte wants to jack up taxes to throw $119 million at the unfunded Charlotte Streetcar project.  After last year's election installed a 9-3 Democratic Party majority, why not?   LYNX extension to cost $1.16 billion CharlotteObserver.com

Mooresville's Red Line committee busts out the crystal ball and issues findings saying the finance plan appears to be sound and appropriate "Committee issues Red Line findings" (Lake Norman News).  Considering that the plan will rewritten in several fundamental areas knowing that at this point must involve some supernatural skills.

And finally...

Mayor Woods and Mark Briggs sit before the camera for a full hour discussing the Red Line with some folks from Davidson College.  This is actually a good video, and I encourage you to watch it.  That should be all you need to know.
